Monthly Events
February
Join us in the library during lunch on Wednesday, February 12th during lunch to design your own slap bracelet or to make your own friendship bracelets! Craft these for a friend, someone special, or to treat yo'self. Bring your lunch and a friend, and get crafty. Everyone is welcome and materials will be provided.
Unleash your creativity and join us for an exciting workshop where you'll learn how to use artificial intelligence to design a unique and personalized sticker. This event will take place Thursday, February 20th during lunch and is limited to the first 8 students who sign up. Swing by the library to sign up.
Do you have what it takes to escape the library? Join us on Wednesday, February 26th during lunch to see if you have what it takes to escape the enchanted library. Bring your lunch and a friend, everything will be provided. Everyone is welcome!
January
Join us on Wednesday, January 15th, during lunch for crafts in the library! Grab your lunch and a friend to hangout with us as we design your own bookmarks. We will provide all the materials you need and everyone is welcome.
Want to leave your mark at Lathrop? Swing by the library to design a popsicle stick to add to our mural for the library.
December
Looking for a fun challenge over Winter Break or an excuse to read more books? Take part in our Winter Break Reading BINGO! Completed BINGO cards can be turned into the library after break for a prize!
Do you have what it takes to guess how many books are in the library book Christmas tree? Swing by the library to enter your guess. The closest entry to the total of books will win a prize. Enter your guess before December 13th!
As finals approach, it's important to take a moment to unwind and recharge. Join the library as we de-stress before finals and winter break! Relax by coloring pictures, playing games, and more! Swing by the library December 11th during lunch!
Get ready to spread some holiday cheer at our upcoming Ornament Lunch Craft event on December 4th during lunch in the library! Bring your lunch and your creativity as we craft beautiful ornaments to decorate! All materials will be provided, all are welcome!
November
November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)! Join our Young Author Society Thursdays during lunch in the library to help reach your writing goals! If you are just looking for a group to bounce ideas off of, fun writing prompts, or a quiet place to write your novel or fanfiction, you would not want to miss this!
Join us in the library during lunch on Wednesday, November 13th as we craft 3D paper pumpkins, which will make great Thanksgiving centerpieces! Instructions and supplies will be provdided. Feel free to bring your lunch and tell your friends. This event is free to all Lathrop Students!
Johon Atkinson, a cultural bearer from Metlakatla, will be visiting the library during lunch. He will be sharing his story, regalia, and songs with students. Stay to listen to a professional storyteller while you eat your lunch.
Do you have a teacher or staff member that you are thankful for? Swing by the library to write a kind, thoughtful, and detailed note about why you are thankful for them. Bring your notes of gratitude to the librarians, and we will enter your name in a raffle drawing for a prize!

Join the library as we try to solve the Mystery of the Missing Author October 30th during lunch. Solve the clues to crack the case. Can you solve the mystery?
Paint your own Haunted Masterpieces in the Library on October 16th during lunch. Transform any landscape into a spooky masterpiece by adding your own ghoulish style. Join us for a spooky good time!
Do you have a talent for crafting chilling tales in just two sentences? Enter our Two-Sentence Horror Story Writing Contest! The contest is open to all students. Submissions are due by October 25 and will be featured in the library the last week of October. For more details and to enter, visit the library.

Join us for Campfire Storytime as we share stories around the campfire during lunch on Wednesday, September 25th! Bring a story to share or stay to listen!
Celebrate your Freedom to Read September 16th to 20th and checkout our Blind Date with a Banned Book display!

Malemute Reads Book Club
Are you looking for a space to talk about your favorite books? Want to connect with others who love books as much as you do? Join us for the Malemute Reads Book Club. We will talk about our favorite books, journal our favorite books, and do book-related crafts. This unique book club will take place on Tuesdays during lunch in the library!
