Intervention Prevention Specialist
Our Intervention Prevention Counselor assists students in achieving academic and social success by promoting healthy development, reducing barriers to learning and building upon individual strengths. As a part of Safe and Drug Free Schools, this program provides prevention, identification, intervention, and support services. L.A.B. After School Program
The L.A.B.—Lathrop After the Bell— program is a free academic after-school program focused on homework help and tutoring in the core subject areas. Academic Labs are offered by Lathrop teachers Monday—Thursday afternoons in Math, English and Science. Computer labs are available as well as outside credit support options. Lathrop Library
Need a place after school to read, do your homework, use a computer, work on a project with other students, get assistance in finding information sources, work with a tutor, or participate in a book discussion group? Counseling Office
Lathrop’s Guidance and Counseling Center offers a variety of services for students. Our counseling staff are here to help with class selection, registration, goal setting, college/ career choices and preparation, and social support. Our Guidance and Counseling Center is a great resource for both students and families. Our counseling staff can provide referrals to community resources as well as all of the support services within the building. For more information, contact (907)456-7794 X 17503.  

 MFLAC

The school district supports the Child and Youth Behavioral Military & Family Counseling program, funded by the Department of Defense, where eight counselors serve six elementary schools, one junior/senior high school, two middle schools, and two high schools for students, families and staff. Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) is a military-friendly school district. We want to help make your transition in our schools as smooth as possible and provide you up-to-date information while you are here! 

With more than 12,450 students and 34 schools in the district, we educate over 3,800 military-connected students, which is 31% of the total student population (current information as of 09-21-21).

The school district has Anderson Elementary (Eielson AFB: K-2nd grades), Arctic Light Elementary (Fort Wainwright: K-8th grades), Crawford Elementary (Eielson AFB: 3rd-6th grades) and Ben Eielson Jr/Sr High School (Eielson AFB: 7th-12th grades), that are located on base and post.
