The Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) program is now in place. High School graduates from the Class of 2023 that meet eligibility requirements will have opportunities to continue their education in Alaska through the APS program. This new scholarship program is an exciting opportunity for our students. Please note that the requirements for meeting the APS will change over the next three years. These requirements become more rigorous and detailed. Therefore, it is best to check the website https://acpe.alaska.gov for new updates. This website has been designed to help students prepare and increase their opportunities for this new scholarship program. For the graduating class of 2022-2025, the APS Testing Requirements have been waived.

SEPTEMBER

Niche Back to School Scholarship - $25,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: September 27, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be planning to attend an accredited college or university within the United States by the Fall of 2024.
B) Be a US Citizen or a valid US Visa holder.


Big Future Scholarship - $40,000 - 24 Awards (Deadline: September 30, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a senior in high school.
B) Be attending college or university no later than Fall 2024.


SM Scholarship - $2,000 - 12 Awards (Deadline: September 30, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be enrolled as a high school senior or a student enrolled at an accredited college or university located within
the United States and carry a GPA of at least 2.5.

OCTOBER

Coca-Cola Scholars Program - $20,000 – 150 Awards (Deadline: October 2, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a current high school student who will graduate during the 2023-2024 year.
B) Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Permanent Resident, Refugee, Asylee, Cuban-Haitian Entrant, or
Humanitarian Parolee - based on the guidelines utilized by U.S. Department of Education.

Top of the Mountain Memorial Scholarship - $5,000 - 2 Awards (Deadline: October 22, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school senior or undergraduate student who has worked, interned, and/or volunteered in
environmental causes. STEM majors are preferred but not required.

Women's Ministries Scholarship Program - $20,000 - 49 Awards (Deadline: October 31, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a woman who would not be able to attend college without financial help.
B) Be a woman who is committed to serving the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who would
otherwise be unable to afford a college education.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship - $35,000 - 50 Awards (Deadline: October 31, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school student between the grades 9-12.
B) Be enrolled in a public, private, or parochial high school or home study program in the United States.

NOVEMBER

Regeneron Science Talent Search - $250,000 - 300 Awards (Deadline: November 8, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a current high school student who will graduate during the 2023-2024 year.
B) Submit original research in a critically important scientific field of study.


Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards - $10,000 - 180 Award (Deadline: November 13, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be currently enrolled in high school and graduating in the spring of 2024.
B) Have a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale.

Conerto High School Musicians Scholarship - $2,500 – 3 Awards (Deadline: November 15, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school musician (grades 9-12) enrolled during the 2023-2024 academic year.
B) Play one of the following instruments: String, Piano, or Harp.

10 Words or Less Scholarship - $1,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: November 15, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be between the ages of 14-25 who will be attending school in the Fall of 2024.
B) Submit a response to the sponsor’s essay prompt.

Scholarship for Tomorrow's Entrepreneur - $2,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: November 15, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a senior in high school or currently enrolled in a college of business with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Dr Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship - $1,000 - 20 Awards (Deadline: November 30, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Have at least one parent of Hispanic ancestry.
B) Demonstrate a verifiable need for financial support.

DECEMBER

Dr Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship - $1,000 - 20 Awards (Deadline: November 30, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be an innovative and highly creative high school or college student. We seek essay submissions from
students who are creative thinkers and problem solvers.

Kelly Law Autism Scholarship - $1,000 - 1 Award (Deadline: December 20, 2023)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be diagnosed with autism.
B) Write a brief explanation (around 100 word) stating the way in which the continuation of your education will
further your anticipated career goals.

Native American Tools for Success    Letter of Recommendation Personal Data Form
This form is used to compile information which would be helpful for a person to have were they to write a letter of recommendation for a student. Students should fill this form out and give it to whomever they ask to write the letter for them. To save time, students can fill in only the general area, then make copies and fill in the scholarship or school-specific information at a later date.  You can access the form here bit.ly/letterofreclhs or print the form from the main menu by selecting the Letter of Recommendation Request Form, completed by hand, then return the completed form to the counseling office.   By clicking the bit.ly link above, it will force you to make a copy of the document. From there, you’ll want to share the form with whomever you’re requesting a letter of recommendation from. It’s important to give the recommender at least two weeks to complete your letter of recommendation. When filling out the letter of recommendation form, make sure to fill out all sections of the form. Boast yourself a little bit. What do you want your recommender to know about you? They may know you academically, but what do you do outside of school that will make the letter of recommendation a “stand out” one? ONCE YOU HAVE MADE A COPY OF THIS FORM, access the form through your drive. Do not make a new copy every time you need a letter of rec!

The application for seniors graduating in 2023 opens on October 1, 2022.
A 2021 tax return may be used rather than needing to wait until 2022 taxes are done. Ensure you register for your ID # on the website in advance, as it may take a few days for it to be processed. 
This important document can be filled out online at FAFSA application Not sure why you should fill this out? Here are a few great reasons:

1) This document is one of the criteria for eligibility for the Alaska Performance Scholarship
2) This is the application that will qualify you or your student for State and Federal Funding
3) Many colleges and universities require this be filled out as a part of the application for their privately funded scholarships. 
4) The FAFSA is not just for universities.
