HOW WE SUPPORT MILITARY-CONNECTED STUDENTS
Welcome to the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District!
Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) is a military-friendly school district. We want to help make your transition in our schools as smooth as possible and provide you up-to-date information while you are here!
With more than 12,450 students and 34 schools in the district, we educate over 3,800 military-connected students, which is 31% of the total student population (current information as of 09-21-21).
The school district has Anderson Elementary (Eielson AFB: K-2nd grades), Arctic Light Elementary (Fort Wainwright: K-8th grades), Crawford Elementary (Eielson AFB: 3rd-6th grades) and Ben Eielson Jr/Sr High School (Eielson AFB: 7th-12th grades), that are located on base and post.
The school district manages three Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) grants:
The school district supports the Child and Youth Behavioral Military & Family Counseling program, funded by the Department of Defense, where eight counselors serve six elementary schools, one junior/senior high school, two middle schools, and two high schools for students, families and staff.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our military families, especially our youngest heroes-your children, our students!

2021
A message from STG1(SW/IUSS) Needham, Lawrence, A.
The United States Navy is excited to help you usher in a brand new school year! We would like to thank you for all of your support this past year by helping the students in your school to join our branch of service.
The Navy has several programs to help your students fund their educational goals after high school and they can secure this funding as a high school senior that is on track to graduate in 2021. As you go throughout the school year we would like to invite you to seek out those students who you know would benefit the most from meeting with our Navy Talent Scouts. Many of your students secured their careers before the school year even started. They have been provided the opportunity to fully fund their education through 100% Tuition Assistance, the Navy's NCPACE Program, Officer Candidate School, STA-21 and of course the infamous Post 9/11 GI Bill which will fully fund tuition, books and housing while a veteran attends college full time.
If we can be of any assistance to you this school year please feel free to contact me using the information below. Our Talent Scouts are prepared to offer virtual presentations that align with your classroom topics to allow all students the opportunity to learn more about the Navy and it's benefits while contributing to your classroom discussions. Please have a safe and wonderful school year!
