Information for Juniors
We are doing our best to answer any questions you may have. The truth is, we don't have all of the answers yet, but we are doing our best to gather information and relay that information to you all. We will use this page to continually add resources and information as we receive it.
Alaska Performance Scholarship - Updated eligibility charts and additional information will be available on the APS website soon, and in the meantime, published eligibility requirements can be found at: APS.alaska.gov
College Applications and Fees - Your future is now! Keep applying to colleges! If you qualify for free and reduced lunch, please reach out to Ms. Alexander at Honey.Alexander@k12northstar.org and she can work with you to see if you qualify to waive your college application fee.
SAT/ACT Please review important information regarding the ACT/SAT Deadlines and Registration.
ACT & SAT
A copy of the 2024-25 ACT/SAT dates & deadlines sheet is also located at the information kiosks in the hall by the office. if you would like more information on the differences between the two exams click the link. Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to take the ACT and SAT as many times as they can to achieve their highest scores. Keep in mind, the APS (Alaska Performance Scholarship) requires a minimum ACT or SAT Score. More information and study guides available here.
If you are using an ACT Fee Waiver or a SAT Fee Waiver, you can NOT register for the late registration dates.

If you qualify for Free and Reduced lunch, please contact your Counselor so they can see if you qualify for an ACT and/or SAT Waiver.
Scholarships - Links to local and national scholarships can be found on Lathrop's Scholarships and Financial Aid page.
Letters of Recommendation - If you need a letter of recommendation, fill out this form and send it to the individual you're asking to write the recommendation. If you cannot print the document and then take a picture/scan it back to your computer, I'd suggest using the documents as a guideline for you to provide information to the recommender in the body of an email.
